The Big Dig

To prepare for a sewer system upgrade and re-route, I dug up the sewer pipe in the front yard. Before I could start digging, I had to remove several plants. Here I had just finished removing the stump of a cordyline.  I still had to remove the large aloes on the left and far right, plus several other small plants.

Sewer pipe  dug up. It was a challenge finding areas to pile the dirt.

The pipe here is over five feet deep.

Trench dug from the foundation at the southeast corner of the house, to the existing clay pipe.

Section of gas line unearthed while digging the trench

Finished digging!

Some of the plants removed today: Piles of aloes and a wheelbarrow of cactus.
